Sarah Badreau Los Angeles, CAI believe that in order to give our beautiful children the connection to Israel and have a full knowledge of the world we need to give them the opportunity to travel. Sometimes this is an overwhelming thought since programs that provide ideal situations for travel are costly. I decided to think outside the box and create an aggressive fundraiser early on in the year to raise funds to give my daughter Sarah the opportunity to travel 5 weeks on an NCSY program called ICE. “The Kotel Letter Campaign” was created to provide a connection to Israel, Sarah and our community by having Sarah hand deliver personal notes to the Kotel. We created an online email that went out to everyone, a facebook event as well as snail mail to mail to family, friends as well as our community. Our Rabbi also mentioned Sarah’s campaign in Shul. The best way to raise funds was to go to grandparents and have them “fundraise” for you by sending letters out to their friends. There friends that had seen Sarah grow up since she was a baby and were more than happy to participate in helping her get to Israel; they sent checks of all different amounts which quickly added up. “The Kotel Letter Campaign’ raised over $2500; Sarah delivered not only the notes to the Kotel but the love of her family and community throughout her trip knowing that she was representing all of the people that helped her have this experience which will last a lifetime.
